Ingredients

120 g (1 cup) rolled oats

240 ml (1 cup) milk (dairy or plant-based)

120 ml (1/2 cup) Greek yogurt

1 tbsp chia seeds (optional for added healthy fibre)

1 tbsp maple syrup or honey (optional for sweetness)

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Fresh fruits, nuts, or seeds for topping (optional)

How Do You Cook It?

Combine dry ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl or jar, mix together the rolled oats and chia seeds.

Add wet ingredients: Pour in the milk, Greek yogurt, maple syrup or honey (if using), and vanilla extract. Stir well to combine.

Mix thoroughly: Ensure all the oats are evenly saturated with the liquid mixture.

Refrigerate: Cover the bowl or jar with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 6 hours to allow the oats to soften and absorb the liquid.

Serve: In the morning, give the oats a good stir. Add your favourite toppings, such as fresh fruits, nuts, and seeds before serving.

Tips & Tricks

Texture preference: Adjust the amount of liquid to achieve your preferred consistency. More liquid will make the easy overnight oats creamier, while less will keep them thicker.

Batch prep: Prepare multiple servings in separate jars for a quick grab-and-go breakfast throughout the week.

Customise: Experiment with different flavours by adding a spoonful of nut butter, cocoa powder, or spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.

Serving Suggestions

Fruit toppings: Fresh berries, sliced bananas, or diced apples pair wonderfully with overnight oats.

Crunch: Add a handful of granola, nuts, or seeds for a satisfying crunch.

Freezing and Reheating

Freezing: Not recommended for overnight oats as the texture can become mushy. Best enjoyed fresh from the refrigerator.

Reheating: Overnight oats are typically enjoyed cold, but you can warm them in the microwave for about 1 minute if preferred.
